If you ask most people what they’re up to, they would say that they’re busy with one thing or another. I’m no exception. Outside of being a stay-at-home mom, I’m helping out with a local area mom’s group and a small group at my church. My husband and I are involved in serving in our church and of course, we’re still remodeling our home. 🙂 I’m faithful to write a new blog post once a week because I love it and writing is one of my passions. I make time for my family as well as alone time with my husband. Then there is preparing meals, keeping up with cleaning, laundry etc. Not to mention that I have my own friends that I want to hang out with. In short, life can be a lot and I soon feel like I’ve run out of time.
Over the past few months, I’ve cut back on things that I usually felt were harmless such as Instagram and Facebook. Over time, I realized that my mindless scrolling was not only getting in the way of me being fully present in my life but also doing other things I’d rather do. I’m all for taking a break here and there but I don’t want to be so invested in other people’s lives that I miss out on my own and the things I really need/want to do. Time is valuable and, unfortunately, limited.
I’ve been wanting to re-do my blog website for about a year now. I did a photo shoot with a good friend of mine back in July and the pictures are phenomenal. This photo featured in this post is from that session. (Hey Krista Lynn Photography! If you live in the Springfield area and need a photographer, check her out! #shamelessplug) The photos totally capture the look and feel that I want for my page but I haven’t even had time to update it yet because of my regular responsibilities.
Proverbs 18:16 says a man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men. Amen! 🙌🏾 That being said, I know that I have to be responsible to plan and execute the things that I want to work on. I also have some other big plans for the year but wouldn’t you know that not everything goes how you plan. I’m doing my best to do all of the things I want to do but I can’t be spread so thin that I’m not fully invested in my top priorities.
As of late, I’ve been trying to “budget” my time. Just like in finances where a certain amount of money is allocated for a specific expense, I am treating my time the same way. Taking the initiative to do certain tasks on certain days, or if my kiddos nap at the same time (a true miracle these days) there are specific assignments that I will try and get done. I’m not as hard on my time as my finances because I know that similar to finances, not everything goes the way you think it will. Sometimes my kids are cranky (or I’m cranky 😬) and I can’t get totally invested in what I was planning to do. My son isn’t napping as much anymore which really cuts into my blog time. I do the best with the time that I have along with the plans and intent to get things done. This works better for me than the “I’ll just let it happen” attitude. Not everything is getting done how I’d hope, like my website for example, but I know it will if I stay diligent and focused to keep moving forward. ❤️ (Crossing my fingers that my updated blog will be live in October.)
I’d love to hear how you guys conquer your to-do lists and get things done. Comment Below!
