Festive 4th of July Dessert

May 17, 2018

A friend of mine, (Hey Jessica 🙋🏾) asked me to share an easy dessert when I was doing my monthly Facebook video check-in for the month of May. (Tune in here to see what I’m talking about.) I had to think about it for a little while since we are still in the midst of our home remodel, I haven’t been making any special desserts. (Does ice cream count? 😆) After some thinking, I came up with the perfect thing and it’s strawberry-tastic!

It’s a 4th of July recipe but you could really make it anytime you’re feeling especially patriotic. I know the 4th is a little ways away but this really is a good one to save for it. I was so proud of myself when I made it last year because it ACTUALLY LOOKED like the recipe from Pintrest.  Sadly, I couldn’t find my picture of it – probably because I was too busy on my first 4th with two kids – but it was gorgeous.

It’s an American flag themed cake! Click on the link HERE.  This isn’t the exact one that I made but it’s pretty similar. I had so much fun making it and it was pretty fool proof. My cake wasn’t perfect but you could tell it was an American flag and my 3 year old knew what it was supposed to be which made me very happy.

I absolutely love cooking and baking but we’ve been laying off homemade desserts since we don’t have a fully functioning kitchen at the moment due to our home remodel. I’ve been getting creative with my Instant-pot and shared those recipes a couple weeks ago. I have a lot of my cookbooks and go-to-family recipes packed away but when we get our kitchen settled, I’d love to share some of those with you. (I’m really wanting to make a banana cream pie that is a family recipe from a friend and I’d love to share that with you guys.)

Thanks so much for reading my blog! I really appreciate you guys reading it and getting feedback. Let me know if you give this recipe a try. I’d also love to hear what your favorite desserts are and if you have something special you like to make for the 4th of July. Comment below!
