A couple of weeks ago, I took my 2-year-old daughter to the library (her favorite place) while my 4-year-old son was at preschool. While looking through books, I found one with a Claymation ice cream cone on the front called Sweet Success by Liz and Jimmy Reed. When I picked it up to look at it, she saw the cover and exclaimed, “Ice Cream Book!”. I knew right then that we were checking it out and taking it home. Later that night, I read the book to both of my kids and it really resonated with me. It’s a story of an ice cream cone named Sprinkle Dee Scoops that has a hard time finishing what she starts. She loves starting projects but has the worst time finishing them. She forgets to finish a project for a surprise birthday party. She misses the surprise and the gift gets ruined. She runs away from the party embarrassed and takes a wrong turn. After taking the wrong turn, she ends up in a foot race. She finishes the race and experiences the joy of completing a task.
I don’t know about you but I can TOTALLY relate to Sprinkle Dee Scoops. I have so many ideas for things and will begin a new project. Then I lose enthusiasm and disregard my whole idea. This doesn’t happen as much as it used to but it is still relatively frequent.
The last time I can remember this happening is with my website. I’ve been wanting to revamp my website for over a year but either haven’t had the time, creative drive or energy to. After reading this book, I had a renewed fire in me to finish what I started and I’m happy to report that my new website will be launching in mid-December. 😍 As much as I’ve loved blogging and sharing stories, I’ve been afraid to really advertise and put myself out there. I always knew that my passion for writing (despite not always being grammatically correct 🙃) was to have a blog as well as a book or two and a few other projects that I will keep under wraps. 🤐 The goal of my blog all along has been to share stories, tips and lessons from my life that have helped me and hopefully encourage others with the three word phrase that best describes me: Laughs Loud Often.
I’m so excited to share my blog outside of my friend/acquaintance circle to complete strangers with the hopes of making someone feel that they’re not alone in what they’re going through. I’ll also be doing a “like & share” giveaway as a thank you for those of you that have been following my page. It feels good to be almost finished with my website and moving into a new territory of putting myself out there more.
I’d love to hear from you guys though. Do any of you struggle with finishing what you start? What areas?
I’m going to be going live on Thursday, November 15th to share this book with you. It’s adorable and there are ice cream puns. Not to mention very encouraging.
