#Minsgame: Week 1

November 7, 2018

Melannie & I are one week into the Minimalism Game. I still have people joining (you can too!) so check out the link to my Facebook page for rules & how to play. I thought I’d share about how week one has been going so far for Melannie & myself.

Jasmine: Since this was your idea, what inspired you to do this challenge?  Where did you hear about it from?

Melannie: I follow Rachel Cruz [daughter of financial money managing expert Dave Ramsey] on Instagram and she did this challenge with The Minimalists. I really liked the idea and thought it would be fun.

J: Has it been hard to get rid of items?

M: I haven’t had a really difficult time getting rid of items, but I do go through a process. I ask myself if I’m really going to use this or am I afraid to get rid of this because I don’t want to upset the giver. If I’m truly not going to use an item, I’m doing a disservice to that item.

J: Where have most of your items gone?

M: Most of my items are being donated.

J: Do you think the challenge will be harder or easier for you to do in the future?

M: I’m committed to trying to make it all the way through, but I don’t know if I have that much stuff to get rid of. I’m going g though every square inch of my apartment.

For me personally, I haven’t had that hard of a time with the challenge yet. Like I mentioned before, we moved last year and still have quite a few unpacked boxes. (That’s a MAJOR understatement). The hardest thing for me, because I’ve been pretty busy lately, is making time to dig through my boxes. Other than that I’ve had a pretty easy time with it.

Most of my items have been a mix of trash, recyclable items, and donations. I’m so appreciative of having friends to go along and do this challenge with me on my page. It’s been so fun to play along with all of them and see what they’re getting rid of.

If you’re participating in this challenge, I’d love to hear how your experience has been. How has everything been for you so far? Is anything harder or easier than expected? If you’re not playing along, what do you think would be the most challenging thing about it? Comment below!
