My Favorite Bloggers

April 18, 2019

A week or so ago, I joined a bloggers group on Facebook. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that beginning last year, I started trying to really put my blog out there. Over time I’ve joined a few blogging groups with no real success. Some of which have been “influencer” programs that I’m not really interested in. I know that I enjoy telling stories about my life and sharing businesses, books and recipes that I love.

I’ve come a long way from 3 years ago when I felt a nudge to start blogging. I feel like I’ve really found my voice and gotten into the groove of what I’m doing. Now it’s just the marketing part which isn’t my natural strong suit. When I first started blogging, there wasn’t really anyone that I was reading along with but over time I’ve found a few blogs that I follow religiously which I thought would be worth sharing. That being said, here are my favorite bloggers.

Tamera Mowry-Housely

Probably one of the first blogs that I really got into was Tamera Mowry-Housely’s. I’ve loved Tamera since her Sister, Sister TV show days 20 years ago. (How was that already 20 years ago????!!!) Five years ago I started watching the talk show, The Real, hosted by Loni Love, Adrienne Houghton, Jeannie Mai and Tamera with their take on different news stories, pop culture events, etc. This is hands down my favorite talk show. Even though they have different opinions the hosts really encourage each other and you can tell that they are friends.

I can definitely relate to Tamera as a Christian woman, as a mother, as someone married in an interracial relationship (not that I even really think about that, to be honest, but I digress). She also shares crafts and recipes. Last year, I made my kids homemade Easter baskets that she mentioned on her site. I’ve even tried some of her recipes. She has a really good turkey chili recipe if you are looking for a one. I just think she’s the best. Unfortunately, her latest post was last June. 😒 I still check back to her page every few months to see if I missed anything. In the meantime, I follow her on Instagram.

Ali Luvs – Ali Fedotowsky-Manno

I think I’ve been following Ali for the same amount of time as Tamera. The difference is that Ali is still actively blogging. Both Ali and Tamera, I started following on Instagram about 4 years ago or so when I made my account. You may remember Ali from Season 6 of The Bachelorette or prior to that being a contestant on Jake Pavelka’s season of The Bachelor. Oddly enough I watched that season of the Bachelor (Remember on the Wings of Love??? πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜†). I remember Ali being The Bachelorette but I don’t remember Ali being on The Bachelor. Probably because she wasn’t Vienna Girardi (who had a very dramatic storyline) but I didn’t watch Ali’s Bachelorette season. Who knows why.

Anyway back to the subject at hand. These days Ali is a wife and mother of two, who shares parenting stories, home dΓ©cor, recipes and affordable fashion tips on her blog. I’m not much of a fashionista – as you guys know from my Project 333 challenge and blog posts on minimalism. However, what I do like about her blog is that the fashion that she shares is practical and economical. She also does awesome giveaways from time to time. Last September, I won a giveaway that she posted along with Sole Society for a $250 gift card. It was so exciting and still have a bit of money left on the gift card.

She seems like such a down to earth person and has shared some very relatable blogs on her postpartum body and breastfeeding. If you’re not following her already you really should be.

ItsReallyKita – Kita Bryant

Now this person is not a celebrity but is someone that I really look up to. I first heard about Kita Bryant almost a year ago on an episode of Mommy Confessions on Facebook. If you’re not familiar with that, Mommy Confessions is a show hosted by Angela Lateka Moore (also known as ThatChickAngel) where she brings on different guests and they discuss various topics related to parenting. On the particular episode that Kita was featured on, the subject was Becoming A Widow. Several years ago, Kita’s husband unexpectedly passed away leaving her a widow. In that particular Mommy Confessions episode, she shared about her experience of what it was like to be in that situation and raising her two children with a limited support system. It really inspired me to reassess my current situation and also think about what would I do if something happened to my husband. ( A sobering thought I know, but how many of us really think about and plan for these kinds of things.)

Kita’s blog features travel, parenting stories, and food. She also has a photography business based in Atlanta as well as t-shirts. I truly applaud her hustle for not only doing all of these businesses but doing all of these things as a single parent. Her story is inspiring. I also think she is a great storyteller and her unapologetic attitude cracks me up. Follow her here!

Jenna Kutcher

The last blogger that I follow is Jenna Kutcher, you may know her from the popular Goal Digger podcast or maybe you first heard of her last Spring when she posted on Instagram what it’s like being a curvy woman married to “Mr. Six-Pack”. I think I finally started following Jenna 6 months or so ago when I kept seeing ads for her on my Instagram. Usually, I don’t follow people from ads but her ads were specifically talking about growing your following which I had been trying to do. Jenna is not only business savvy, (she has a podcast on how she became debt free at 30 years old) but really supports entrepreneurial women wanting to pave their way in the various industries. She is also very open about some other topics like body positivity about how she struggled with infertility and is now a new mom to her daughter – Conley Kate. She is a Christian and has a generally cheerful disposition. A great person to follow along with if you are just needing some positive words of encouragement or business motivation. You can check her out here.

Along my own blogging journey, I’ve found something in all of these women that I admire. They know their niche, they are great at communicating themselves through text and they have all found their voice. These are all things I am trying to achieve in my blog and be successful aka make money. πŸ™‚
