I thought I’d do something a little different this time around. First of all, did you know that I have a Twitter account? My handle is @laughsloudoften. I use it to post potentially funny comments about my life, get shout outs from celebrities (Gabourey Sidibe tweeted me last week 😍 – PRECIOUS!) and share my blog posts all in 140 characters or less. I’m not interested in fame but I desire to make additional funds for my family and share my love of writing.
I realized as I’m approaching 30, which I’m very excited about, that I’m a parent. Don’t worry, I’ve been aware of that this whole time while taking care of the kids with my husband. However, now that I’m 4 years into this thing, I truly identify with being a mother.
As a child, I can remember looking around thinking that all woman past a certain age were moms. Once I got to about 10, I came to the realization that all moms started out as girls. Now that I’m a mom myself, I see little ones look at me with the expectation to care for them. I’m being recognized in their world as a “mom”.
Here are some of my you know you’re a mom when… thoughts. Feel free to tweet them, all I ask is that you quote me. 😄
#Youknowyoureamom when your kid hands you trash expecting you to do something with.
#Youknowyoureamom when at a wedding, you can’t stop snapping while you dance.
#Youknowyoureamom when there are things in pop culture you no longer “get” i.e. Harry Styles & Beyoncé. Still love B, but I’m confused.

*Recently, a 14 year old asked me what chicken pox were like since there’s a vaccine for that now. I told him about the hardships of watching cartoons for a week while being slathered in calamine lotion. Such a difficult time.
#Youknowyoureamom when you start sharing cute/funny parenting quotes.**
**You may have tangible weatlh untold;
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold,
Richer than I you could never be
For I had a mother who read to me.

#Youknowyoureamom when a happy world to you is a drivethru EVERYWHERE for EVERYTHING. Don’t make me take these kids out of the car!
#Youknowyoureamom when you have an infinite amount of love for your kids & can’t imagine your life without them.
This article was probably birthed out of all of the comedians I started following on Instagram over the past couple weeks. Side note: Have you heard of Kevonstage? His comments on Black culture are hilarious. Check him out!
I’d love for you to share your #youknowyoureamom comments below. Feel free to share this post if you can relate.
